Welcome all Missrecalled and Misery-called!

First of all, apologies for how late the event is falling out. This has been the work of months, so hopefully you all enjoy!

Now, how this event is going to work is a little different than any event so far, so please read this post carefully.

The event has three main parts - The Resting Places, The Maze, and The Puzzle Rooms. While the characters will spend most of their time in the maze, most RP will happen in the Resting Places and The Puzzle Rooms.

The Resting Places are the opt out areas - Power nerf is in play in those areas, but characters have their choice of their own bodies or their maze forms. Each Resting Place has an exit out into the maze. They each also have a static Transport Stone which can take characters to a random other Resting Place. Each area is built to need two people for every activity, even just sitting down in some cases. These are calm relaxation areas that encourage being social over anything else. Though memories of the Puzzle Rooms are foggy to the point of uselessness in this space.

The Maze - This is a long twisting area. In this area, as in the Puzzle Rooms, the full effects of the event are in play. Every character, including companion characters, is in a fully human body with no powers and no extra appendages. This includes ghosts, charas, familiars, wandering trees, and kwamis. (Those characters are all welcome in the Resting Places in their Maze forms or their usual bodies as well!). The Maze constantly separates characters from each other, sending them into Resting Spaces, Puzzle Rooms, and just down random foggy areas.

The Puzzle Rooms - In this area, as in the Maze, the full effects of the event are in play. These areas will each pose a problem that needs to be resolved by teamwork through RP. Unless otherwise stated, each puzzle is limited to each player only getting to do each puzzle once, no matter how many characters they have. This is to encourage people to actually work out the puzzles IC rather than just handwaving on past it. If you, the player, know the answer to the puzzle, you can choose to change which puzzle you are working on or having your character take a back seat in figuring the puzzle out. If a player has done all the puzzles, please contact the mod to work out a way to be able to continue.

Also, with the puzzle rooms, while the event will continue through all of December, already begun Puzzle Room threads may be continued onwards, however, no new Puzzle Room thread requests will be accepted (please see how to play a Puzzle Room thread below) as of January 15th.

All Puzzle Room threads need to be posted here when completed. February 1st is the last date when these threads can be posted. Prizes may be given out IC based on completed Puzzle Rooms.

How To Play A Puzzle Room - Please choose a Puzzle you have not yet attempted by posting the following form here.

Then the Mod Journal will post the full set up for the Puzzle Room into the thread. When it is finished please post the thread ( here.

Please do not share the puzzles OOC or look at puzzles you are not undertaking until February 1st. If you are discussing a puzzle you are involved in with the player your character is teamed up with, please do so in private messages rather than public Plurks or discord groups. Thank you.

[Today, Akechi presents a rather peculiar object to the Pearls: a smartphone, circa 2016. Certainly state of the art, by Bottlecap Bay standards, but more importantly is the music playing from its speakers.

Soothing, smooth jazz... How he's missed it.]

I'm not entirely sure how, but it seems I've been reunited with one of my belongings from home.

[He shuffles around the phone, brushing off some glitter.]

It took some doing to operate it in my current state, and I'm not certain how I'll keep it charged. If any electric types wish to volunteer their services, I would greatly appreciate it.

In turn, it may be possible to use my phone to better record data and take photographs on missions. I will have to be careful with it, of course. It may have a shockproof case and screen protector, but it is hardly invincible.

Still... If anyone else received technology, perhaps we can pool resources. This has a great deal of potential.

[ It's a Longest Night/Shortest Day/Yule miracle, Dolly is finally using the Grumpearl after her less than savory experiences with it prior! Either that or Dolly is the kind to watch and learn from others before attempting a proper Grumpearl video on her own that wasn't broadcasting an entire broadway production like before. ]

[ Dolly seems pretty excited though as she appears on the Grumpearl as she brings up this glitter covered, ornate looking brass object as she holds it up by its red cords. ]

My astrolabe just appeared next to me this morning! I don't know how or even why it got smaller, but I'm thrilled! Who wants to test run it for the next Stargazing Club meeting?

[ There's a pause as a stream of glitter comes pouring out from the astrolabe...yeah that glitter is insidious...so much glitter...is this even safe to be this glittery? Dolly looked pretty concerned by the sudden glitter down pour! It would put a preteen accessory shop to shame right now with all that shimmer. ]

Got any tips on how to remove the glitter? As much as I'd like to take a shine to the new look, I think I'd like the glitter to come off.

I've been thinkin'.

[ Oh! It's not just a rare video feed from Courier Six, but he's out and about on his mail route. He's passing between some homes right now, the view quite nice, as he talks, looking relaxed and toasty in all the gifts he's gotten. His voice is calm and measured, a smile on his dragon mouth, calm as he delivers mostly food between houses. ] Now, I know th'joke about it bein' a bad thing to be thinking.

But some of us have been here for a while. And it's got me wonderin'. What sort of new behaviours have you gotten from the creatures you are? I've seen some of 'em first-hand, but it might be good to chat about 'em. Includin' th'ones we try and ignore. Like th'fucking torpor. Uh-- the fact that lizards try and sleep a lot in the cold. Not every bit of these bodies are fun.

I know there's some of you guys who also try and fight past some of 'em. That hard?

Chat among yourselves if you want, I'm on this route for a while - the daily grind doesn't end. That was a fun debate we had from Akechi, wasn't it? Nature and nurture and what we are, nowadays.

⋆✩ A HOLLY, JOLLY… ✩⋆

The snow is constant, but gentle now. It drifts more than it falls, gently gathering on the boughs of trees and the rooftops of houses. As the days pass, with the sight of the sun rarer and rarer, one could be forgiven for feeling morose - even lonely - in these coming winter days. Yet the energy of the Pokemon in both Bottlecap Bay and Skull Town convey something else; a sense of quiet excitement, and even camaraderie.

Pokemon are beginning to gather at each other’s homes for quiet visits with hot drinks. They’re having snowball fights in the lingering hours of light, and warm moments inside near a fire.

It feels like, despite the cold, things will be just fine.

HOLIDAY HOTPOT MINGLE LOG

WHO: Firoza Istus, Ren Amamiya, and YOU!
WHAT: The results of the Holiday Hotpot player quest - and an open invitation for everyone to gather together and enjoy a hot meal!
WHEN: Monday, December 15th
WHERE: Bottlecap Bay, down on the beach
WARNINGS: I can't think of any, unless hot soup is a warning?

It may be a bit nippy with the wind coming in off the ocean, but the beach is the best place to construct and keep up a few large bonfires, if summer's events were any indication. Three pits have been dug and filled with firewood, and set up with large pots with dividers, full of savoury broth divided into a comforting, creamy concoction and a spicy, sweet surprise - options, after all, are not just a considerate consideration, but necessary!

There's plenty of food to add to these pots - lots of wild mushrooms plucked just before the harsher frosts claimed them, sliced berries, nuts, seeds, various leafy greens still clinging to their color, wild carrots and wild potatoes, seaweed...tofu? There's tofu. Some Pokemon in the Bay must make it and sell their excess, which is very generous of them. And, unless someone decides to surprise everyone with rice, there's bread to soak up all that lovely broth!

Looks like this is something you do together with others - cooking the bounty provided by your fellow otherworlders-turned-Pokemon, that is. The sand is thankfully, somehow, not wet, so you can sit there, wrapped up in your winterwear or a bolt of pressed wool provided for the occasion, watching your delicious meal simmer as you swap stories and laugh and have a good time, perhaps even make new friends with those outside of your assigned guild!

Which is exactly what your hosts, Ren and Firoza, would love for you to do! Don't be shy - come on and join us! There's plenty to go around!

[OOC: if you feel so inclined as to bring something along for the hot pot last minute, go right ahead! The more the merrier!]
